Product Overview

The Cisco NCS 2000 100-Gbps Multirate Muxponder module for the Cisco NCS2000 and 15454-M Series. It multiplexes 2x10G and 2x40G or 1x100G into a single 100-Gbps OTN payload, and it can interface with 100-Gbps or 200-Gbps DWDM line cards for transport across a DWDM infrastructure.

Who would benefit from this product

Not only is this product the perfect solution for Large Content Providers, MAN/WAN operators, and Data Centers, but it can also be utilized by anyone with a transport network.

Technical Features

The line card features two SFP+ ports, two QSFP+ ports, and one port supporting the Cisco CPAK pluggable transceiver. The card can aggregate multiple 10-Gbps and 40-Gbps clients, or a single 100-Gbps client, into an ODU-4 container, for transmission across the chassis backplane to a paired DWDM trunk card.

The Cisco NCS 2000 100-Gbps Multirate Muxponder can optionally encrypt the 100-Gbps payload, as well as apply card-to-card and payload authentication to ensure data security and  integrity. Encryption and card-card authentication does require an additional license.

The card reduces wasted capacity by requiring fewer wavelengths for multiple aggregations. 10G, 40G, or 100G can all be used.

The card has multiple operational modes:

  1. 200-Gbps Muxponder Client – One or two line cards can be paired with the NCS2K-200G-CK Line Card to efficiently multiplex 10- and 40-Gbps signals or one 100-Gbps signal into a 200-Gbps coherent DWDM interface.
  2. 100-Gbps Muxponder Client – The line card can be paired with the NCS2K-200G-CK Line Card with SD-FEC or the NCS2K-100G-CK Line Card to efficiently multiplex 10- and 40-Gbps signals into a 100-Gbps coherent DWDM interface.
  3. 100-Gbps Transponder Client – The line card can be paired with another Line Card NCS2K-200G-CK with SD-FEC or the Line Card to transport 100-Gbps signals over a coherent DWDM interface.
  4. Standalone Muxponder – The line card can operate in a standalone mode in which 10- and 40-Gbps client signals are aggregated into an OTU-4 utilizing the CPAK client interface. This mode could be used to transport the output of the Cisco NCS 2000 100-Gbps Multirate Muxponder over dark fiber or a third-party DWDM system.
  5. Back-to-Back 100-Gbps Encryptor – By pairing two line cards “back to back” across the chassis backplane, a 100 Gigabit Ethernet client can be encapsulated into an ODU-4, encrypted, transmitted across the chassis backplane, and retransmitted as an OTU-4 using a Cisco CPAK on the paired line card.

Product Overview

The Cisco® Network Convergence System sets the industry benchmark for dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) solutions by delivering the programmability, massive scale, multi-layer convergence, and ultra-long-haul performance necessary for tomorrow’s network architectures.

Who Would Benefit from This Product

This product is the perfect solutions of Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Large Cable Companies, Television Networks, Utility Companies, and Large Enterprise Organizations.

Technical Features

The Cisco NCS 2000 100-Gbps DWDM Line Card is a module for both the Cisco Network Convergence System (NCS) 2000 Series and the Cisco ONS 15454 Multiservice Transport Platform (MSTP), which transports 100 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces and services across metro, regional, and long haul DWDM optical networks.

The card has one pluggable CPAK transceiver port which is mapped to a single DWDM tunable trunk port.

Services demands of 100Gbps of any fiber service would require this card

The card features include:

  • Transport of 100-Gbps wavelengths over fully uncompensated networks with very high polarization mode dispersion (PMD), with unregenerated optical reach of up to 6800 km.
  • Support for one hundred twenty-eight (128) channels at 37.5GHz channel spacing, or up to 150 channels at minimal spacing.
  • Continuously tunable laser and Nyquist transmit filtering for creation of multi-carrier DWDM super channels.
  • Exceptional system density of 42 100-Gbps transponders per rack with a 100GBASE-LR4 client interface.
  • Support for different configurations – transponder, muxponder, or regenerator.
